On December 31, 2020, Mountain Rose Herbs (MRH) purchased the Phoenix Industrial Park at 120 Cleveland St. in Eugene. This purchase will allow the company to consolidate their six separate facilities into one 12-acre campus and will provide 205,000 square feet of critically needed operational space.

Founded in 1987 as a mail-order company, Mountain Rose Herbs is now one of the largest suppliers of organic herbs in the nation and is the largest volume shipper in Lane County. MRH owner and CEO, Shawn Donnille stated, "With more than twenty years of e-commerce experience, we were uniquely prepared when the COVID pandemic reached Oregon. This expertise has enabled us to thrive in 2020 in spite of profound workplace social distancing and shipping challenges. But the situation also made it obvious that we urgently needed more operational space.”

The move to the Phoenix Industrial Park will mark the fourth time in twenty years that this successful Oregon e-commerce company has outgrown its facilities. Originally established in California, MRH moved to Pleasant Hill in 2001 to become Oregon Tilth Certified and to establish a full-time laboratory and quality control department that remains unparalleled in the herbal industry today. By 2010, they needed to triple their operational space, so leased the former Burley Design bicycle trailer factory in west Eugene as well as an additional 10,000-square-foot building next door. In 2018, again in need of additional processing space, MRH established a state-of-the-art organic mill and processing facility at Phoenix Industrial Park. Now, with the purchase of the industrial park, the company’s six separate facilities will be consolidated into one campus.

This move is also in alignment with MRH’s longstanding commitment to company sustainability. “We are continually striving for a carbon-neutral business model,” said Shawn Donnille. Bringing the separate facilities together onto one campus streamlines operations and communications, significantly reducing MRH’s carbon footprint.

Mountain Rose Herbs’ purchase of the Phoenix Industrial Park was the largest commercial transaction of 2020 in Lane County.
