In a state known for abundance and the production of hundreds of different specialty crops, it should be no surprise that there is substantial support for bees.

As part of the Oregon Bee Project, Oregon Department of Agriculture has launched a redesigned bee resource page. The site contains information for beekeepers, educators, citizen scientists, land managers and many others. The Oregon Bee Project has a mission of:  “Bringing together Oregonians around a science-based strategy for protecting and promoting wild and managed bees through education, pollinator-friendly practices, and research.”

Oregon Bee Project provides additional support for bee advocacy on top of the already highly successful SAVE The BEE campaign, developed and coordinated by Glory Bee foods. SAVE the BEE Initiative is a partnership of researchers, beekeepers, businesses and consumers committed to protecting honey bee health by: increasing awareness, funding scientific research, and providing “best practices” education for farmers, gardeners and beekeepers. Many brands have already signed up to “save the bees” by partnering on product launches and donating portions of sales.
