Red Duck Foods Acquired by BG Specialty Sales

Red Duck Foods, an organic condiment company committed to crafting superior, non-GMO, organic ketchups, BBQ sauces, cocktail sauce and taco sauces, announces its acquisition by BG Specialty Sales LLC.

The transaction brings together two premium, condiment-centric food businesses with roots in Oregon. “Combining two local food brands known for their commitment to quality and simple, honest ingredients, is good business,” said Domonic Biggi, the CEO of BG Specialty Sales. Biggi, whose late grandmother Rose Biggi founded Beaverton Foods in 1929 during the Great Depression, has spent his career in the specialty foods industry. “It’s been such a privilege to build our business from the ground up and we are so proud to have reached this point,” said co-founder Jessica Zutz Hilbert. “The past several months have been tough in our industry and for small businesses across the country. We are thrilled to have such a positive outcome for not only our local food community, but also our local business community.

Red Duck Foods was founded in 2013 when it emerged out of a class project in the Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. Since the company’s initial launch of three products into six stores in Eugene, Oregon in May 2013, the company’s product line has grown to 11 different products distributed throughout North America in over 5,000 stores.

“When we started our business as a class project nearly eight years ago, we were really committed to maintaining our presence in Oregon. We are so pleased to merge our operations with another Oregon-based company,” said co-founder Karen Bonner.

"It’s exciting to see this company that we’ve poured our hearts into land with a local partner who has the expertise and systems to take it to the next level,” added co-founder Shannon Oliver. “More importantly, BG Specialty Sales also embodies many of the same values we built our business around.”

Red Duck’s product will continue to be distributed throughout the United States and Canada. In addition, the brands are looking forward to adding new products and distribution across new geographies and channels.
