Manufacturing Day Returns to Greater Eugene Area
High School Students Tour TEN Manufacturing Facilities on Manufacturing Day
250 students and scores of teachers and chaperones will tour local manufacturing facilities on National Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 4th. Students from all over Lane County will be participating. This is the THIRD annual Experience Oregon Manufacturing day, and the demand continues to grow each year! “The students were blown away by the level of technology employed in our facilities.” Said Kim Forrest with Forrest Technical Coatings.
The tours will show students the production processes, tools, techniques and people who make some of the area’s finest products. Students will be onsite and will learn firsthand about food and beverage, wood products, and advanced manufacturing in Lane County.
“Events like Experience Oregon Manufacturing are crucial for our students. Providing students with career connected learning and access to industry tours can help students envision themselves in certain careers, and inspire them in the classroom to work towards developing the knowledge, skills and mindsets that will enable them to adapt to flexible workforce needs and to compete for high-wage, high-demand careers.” Heidi Larwick, Executive Director of Connected Lane County
