University of Oregon Dining Services is now serving fresh locally made tortillas produced by Eugene Oregon’s Tortillería el Chile. This Fall UO Dining services introduced Bullseye Taco, a taqueria inspired dining hall option. The taqueria serves burritos, tacos and other hispanic cuisine for the students at the University of Oregon.

“Everyday our shop will be producing fresh tortillas for their tacos,” says Javier Martinez, son of founder Julia Vasque. “We will be delivering to their spot, ensuring the freshest batch of tortillas for their tacos! I find it real cool that the UO is supporting a small business like my mom’s. It is interesting to know that only a handful of restaurants in the area make or use fresh tortillas for their hispanic food!”

Tortillería has expanded sales to include some other local organizations as well, including FOOD for Lane County (FFLC), the county’s local food bank. FFLC has made five purchases from them since January of this year including tortillas, queso fresco, chorizo and dried serrano peppers in an effort to provide and create greater access to more culturally specific foods those facing food insecurity in Lane County. The products were made available to local pantries and partner agencies across the county to help fill the need they are seeing in local communities.

Tortillería El Chile offers homemade tortillas (including vegan gluten free options), homemade salsa's, chorizo, hispanic sodas, dry herbs/spices, and hispanic dairy products like Queso Fresco from its factory store at 2638 Roosevelt Blvd in Eugene, Oregon.
