Springfield, Oregon based Young Mountain Tea (YMT) has teamed up with Portland-based Jasmine Pearl Tea Company (JP) to release a line of four loose-leaf tea blends, which are available on both companies' websites (youngmountaintea.com and thejasminepearl.com). Tea lovers can nab the blends in beautifully packaged 2-oz. (enough for 20-30 cups of tea). Those interested in wholesale options can also purchase by the pound.

The four new offerings:

  • Himalayan Chai: A masala chai inspired by road trips across the Himalayas, combining strong black loose-leaf with dried ginger, fresh black pepper, and aromatic cardamom.

  • Kumaon Earl Grey: Our rendition of the world’s most popular blend. The light black tea within showcases sweet notes of caramel, enhanced by the citrusy zip of bergamot oil.

  • Indian Breakfast: A twist on the classic English Breakfast, which combines two single-origin black teas for a strong, balanced, and complex cup.

  • Nepali Green Mint: The smoky strength of a roasted, pearl-shaped green tea gets a clean, light lift from the herbal trio of spearmint, peppermint, and lemon myrtle.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer our first blends, which were based on a concept of bridging quality and sustainability,” said YMT Founder, Raj Vable. “We were delighted by the chance to partner with JP because there’s an art to making the flavors all sing together, and they know how to do it. They are experts at selecting herbs and spices that complement and enhance—rather than mask—the base tea’s inherent character and qualities.”

Since its inception in 2013, mission-driven tea company YMT has offered high-quality, loose-leaf that is direct-sourced from small-scale farmers in India and Nepal. Until now, their collection has featured strictly single-origin unblended teas made in a variety of styles—black, white, green, and oolong. Growing demand for specialty tea nationwide coupled with customer requests led YMT to expand the brand’s product line.

“We have been wanting to collaborate with YMT for years,” said Heather Agosta, JP co-founder. “I love their mission and the unique flavors in their collection, and we’ve wanted to make a line of blends using only their teas. I’m so excited by how they turned out and can’t wait for our customers to start trying them.”
